Hungarian government is secretly in talks about military support for Ukraine
Despite all, Hungary also attended meetings in Brussels on military support for Ukraine. However, public media did not cover this, almost as if they had deliberately omitted this piece of information from their reports on Brussels meetings.
No military support?
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the entire Hungarian government has been insisting that supplying arms to the Ukrainians is a mistake. That is why Hungary is the only country in the region that has not sent any military equipment. In contrast, according to the report of Átlátszó, Hungary is also taking part in the talks in which the Western allies are coordinating the arming of the Ukrainian defenders, with complete media silence.
NATO defence ministers met in Brussels for a two-day conference between 14 and 15 February, according to a video by Hungarian Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky. The minister mentioned NATO’s collective defence policy, the revival of the European defence industry and the development of the Hungarian armed forces as topics of discussion.
However, at the same time, the meeting of the Ramstein Group, which coordinates military assistance to Ukraine, also took place. This meeting was attended by Balázs Géczy, Deputy Representative of the Hungarian Mission to NATO. The meeting explicitly aims to coordinate military assistance to Ukraine.
Thus, it seems like, despite all anti-war and pro-peace rhetoric by the Hungarian government, it still does take part in talks regarding arms delivery to support Ukraine against the Russian aggression. Will the public media ever cover these talks in their reports? We shall see.
Hungarian Interchurch Aid delivers over HUF 6 billion aid to Ukraine
Hungarian Interchurch Aid has delivered more than HUF 6 billion (EUR 15.6 million) worth of aid to Ukraine over the past year, helping 245,000 people, the organisation’s president said on Monday. Around half of the aid has been contributed by the Hungarian government, László Lehel told a roundtable discussion in Budapest marking one year since the start of the war in Ukraine.
During the first phase of the war, Hungarian Interchurch Aid delivered a lot of food to those in need, before setting up a storage facility in Berehove (Beregszász) from where the food is now distributed, Lehel said. The organisation has now delivered aid to every Ukrainian oblast, he said.

János Gerevich, head of Hungarian Interchurch Aid’s representation in Ukraine, said the organisation has delivered 1.393 million kilograms of aid to the country over the past year, 300,000 kilograms of which is in western Ukraine’s Transcarpathia region. Most of the supplies delivered were food, baby food and hygienic supplies, he said.
Mykhailyna Skoryk-Shkarivska, deputy mayor of Bucha, said the reconstruction of Bucha had already begun. She said around 90 percent of Bucha’s 35,000 residents had returned to the city. Natalia Kravets, head of the League of Socially Responsible Women in Kherson, said Ukrainians would win the war because they “have to win”. She said they would then have to rebuild all that had been destroyed in their country.
The event was also attended by Anikó Lévai, the wife of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, and a welfare ambassador of Hungarian Interchurch Aid.

Considering Comrade Orban’s many anti-Ukraine and pro-Russia remarks it is more likely that the Comrade is reporting everything that is said directly to his boss in MOCKBA.
Do Hungarians really want to be kicked out of the European Union and NATO/OTAN? If Comrade Orban keeps kissing Putin’s back HU will find itself in bed with its real puppet master, Putin
@John Joseph:
Just what I was thinking while reading the above article. I wonder how many more of us are thinking the same thing – probably not enough.
Hungary should never send weapons to Ukraine. The weapons will kill members of the Hungarian community.
I didn’t know there were Hungarians in the Russian army, or the Wagner Group, killing Ukrainians, and Ukrainian Hungarians.
hungary can help best by supporting sweden/finlands membership to nato..it makes us all stronger…..and to support other members who want to help…just dont be against them..we know hungary has certain problems with fuel/gas/oil.. but as long as they do as much as possible to support nato/eu , then we are ok with them….
